What does F.A.R. do?
Flight Angels Inc is a U.S. non-profit 501c3 based on the island of Roatan, off the coast of Honduras. We rescue and fly Roatan cats to adoptable shelters and forever homes across the continent. Every cat is vaccinated, fixed, loved and cared for. With our program we connect with travelers typically returning to the USA from Roatan, who volunteer to become Flight Angels. These Flight Angels accompany our cats to their airport destination, where someone then receives them and brings them to their final destination. Donations received by Flight Angels Inc go directly towards the costs of cat flights, immunizations and documentation required for travel, basic and veterinary care, housing, food, litter and any other necessities for these cats. No dollar is wasted saving the cats of Roatan.
Why is F.A.R. important?
Roatan has a significant overpopulation of cats. Sadly there are no humane methods of controlling the population here. This leaves the cats vulnerable to many hazards such as disease, parasites, infection, starvation, and worst of all cruel extermination/torturing by humans. This is why TNR (trap-neuter-release) is not much of an option for Roatan cats.
Who We Are
We are animal lovers, volunteers, travelers, cat enthusiasts, men, women, and overall people who have an enormous capacity for love and kindness. Flight Angels of Roatan was founded with the simple goal to help save the cats of Roatan. Our founder, Angie, saw a special need for the cats on this island and took it upon herself to create a program where these wonderful and affectionate cats can have a chance at LIFE! Since founding Flight Angels of Roatan in February of 2023, we have been able to save hundreds of Roatan cats and fly them to forever homes and adoptable shelters. We are proud and committed to Saving the cats of Roatan, one flight at a time!
