Flight Angel FAQ's
Check out the frequently asked questions below. Feel free to reach out with any additional questions or to inquire further!
What is a Flight Angel?

-
A Flight Angel is a voluntary flight companion. Someone who transports a cat on their flight to their destination (typically the USA).

-
The cat will be under the Flight Angel’s care throughout the flight and until the cat is received by someone at the airport after landing.
-
The Flight Angel is provided with the necessary items to transport the cat: deportation paperwork, all fees have been paid to the airport, a pet carrier, food/water dish, food/treats, puppy pads and wipes if needed.
-
During the flight, the kitty is inside a cat carrier and will be stowed under the seat in front of you.

How to become a Flight Angel?

-
Message us via our website, email, or Facebook messenger with your travel details from Roatan. We will check if we have any available cats for your departure date and proceed to set details with you if viable.

Does it cost anything to carry a cat onboard the flight?

-
All fees to carry the cat onboard have already been pre-paid by Flight Angels of Roatan. If you are flying a Roatan cat you have adopted, we ask for any donation amount you could help with to assist in the fees.
What are the Flight Angel responsibilities?

-
Arrive to the airport at the pre-arranged time to meet with the Flight Angels Coordinator
-
Meeting place: Between the Delta ticket counter and the arrivals exit.
-
The Flight Angels Coordinator will have everything needed for the flight.
-

-
The Flight Angel will be provided with the rescue/adopter contact information so that the Flight Angel, prior to leaving Roatan, can coordinate where and when to meet up upon landing at the destination airport.
What should the Flight Angel expect at security with the kitty?

-
The cat needs to be removed from the cat carrier bag and carried through Roatan security. As most cats are scared during this process, they become submissive and easy to handle through security. It is recommended to lightly scruff the cat on the back of the neck while holding them to provide extra support when out of the carrier.

-
When you connect through a US airport, you can request a screening room.
How does the kitty go to the bathroom?

-
Most do not while being transported. When you are connecting, we suggest using a family restroom where you can lock the door and let the cat out of the bag to stretch. Be cautious that there are no areas where the cat can hide or escape. We supply the Flight Angel with treats, food and a bowl for water. If the pet carrier bag is soiled, there are supplies to easily clean in the provided supplies bag. **DO NOT TAKE THE CAT TO THE PET RELIEF AREA!**
Do I need to supply anything for the cat?

-
No, just love and comfort. All needed supplies and travel documents will be provided.
Why can’t I check in for my flight online?

-
Because you are carrying a cat, the check-in must happen at the airport. It is approximately a 15 minute process to check-in which the Flight Angels Coordinator will facilitate for you. The Flight Angels Coordinator will stay with you until you enter airport security to board your flight.
